Miss Gay Ohio Pageant slated for August

Once again the Miss Gay Ohio

pageant will be held in Canton, Oh. Under the auspices of the National Miss Gay America pageant, this show will be the stepping stone for one of us to represent Ohio in the annual Miss Gay America. While it is a drag show it is also a talent show and a costume ball of lavish pro-

?

portions. This year's grand prize

of $1200.00 is indicative of the wish to shoot for a bit of glory and also an acknowledgement of the time and expense that the performers invest in themselves.

HIGH GEAR will be covering the pageant this year, which is scheduled for Aug. 8 at the American Legion Hall. We will present further details as they become available to us.

simultaneously with the film. (Foreign language films will be shown with subtitles, and are therefore an excellent source of entertainment for the DAD audience.)

Linda Baine, C.S.C., is the sign language interpreter coordinator for the project. Ms. Baine sees the program opening a new avenue of entertainment for the deaf and hearing impaired.

Since this is a pilot program, the Festival requests the deaf and hearing impaired audience participate in a brief questionnaire, which will help determine the value of the project, and suggest how to expand it for future festivals.

The Joint Council of Deaf Organizations is making a TTY available to the Festival beginning March 23. For information concerning the DAD program or the Festival, phone 241-7686, by voice or TTY.
